AUTHOR: David Pereda

Newly widowed Miami plastic surgeon Raymond Peters left Cuba as a young man. Thirty years later an old childhood friend comes to him with some surprising information. Pepe tells Raymond that he has a son that is terminally ill and wants to meet his real father. Pepe wants Raymond to go with him to Cuba. Raymond travels to Cuba with Pepe but soon finds that everything is not what he has been led to believe. He has a son, but no, the son is not dying, and in fact hates Raymond for leaving his mother. Along with that, Raymond also finds himself immersed in an incredible plot, with far-reaching political implications, a scheme involving his plastic surgery skills so incredibly brash that it might just work. Raymond soon learns that he can trust no one—not even his son, Pepe, or the enthralling but married Sonia, with whom he has rekindled their old romance. Now Raymond must complete the task and somehow escape Cuba before he loses everything, his life, and a second chance for happiness with his first love. The question is, how?

I really like the idea behind this book. It has an excellent plot, different, with just enough twists and turns to keep the reader wanting more. The characterization was first-rate and dialog good as well. The ending was, interesting. I really like the author’s style and would be happy to read more of his work.
