In 2831 Earth is suddenly attacked and nearly decimated by a race of mysterious and terrifying aliens. The spaceship Viglant’s new Captain Renolds, has finally been granted his lifelong dream of becoming a spaceship captain. During the attack on Earth, his ship is somehow transported to hostile territory where it is attacked and left seriously damaged. The Vigilant's first officer, Marcus Collingway is a former terrorist leader and a mass murderer, long believed dead. Why has he suddenly been give the rank of Commander and assigned to the Viglant. As Renolds begins to investigate, he starts to expose a complex web of secrets and lies. Now trapped on a crippled ship, can the Captain, First Officer  and young female telepath Elizabeth overcome their hate and distrust of each other to find some way to work together to save the Vigilant from the Soulites?

 As a writer and reader of Science Fiction, I have always loved a good space story. The War of the Soulites is a good story with many twists and turns along the way. However, for me the finish was just a little too open ended, leaving several unanswered questions. My guess is that the author has a sequel planned or already on the way. In any case, the story is well written with good dialogue. I liked it a lot.
