Author: Penny Espinoza

All of Sophi Miller’s life she hoped her footsteps and her creations on her feet would take her to the start of her dreams. As a budding shoe designer, her dream was to create beautiful shoes, or ‘springers’ as she referred to them. Not only that, she wanted her designs to be seen the world over, so that every woman would develop her own shoe fetish once they got a look at her shoes.

On a trip to Paris with her college design class, she caught a look at herself in the reflection of a chic Parisian shoe store. Upon seeing herself as frumpy, she decided she couldn’t look like that anymore, especially if she was to be the designer she envisioned herself as. After her own self make-over, she emerged as Sophi Arriver, with a new outlook on life and a new attitude. Armed with this new self-confident persona, she sits in a bistro with her sketch book and supplies, intent on being inspired directly by such a beautiful place. It is while sitting here that she meets one man who will affect her life in so many ways, beyond her wildest dreams. Along the way of knowing this man, off and on, she will encounter unrequited love on the part of an old childhood friend, who is now all grown up. No matter what she goes through, she always has the love and support of her father and her best friend Tana, who look after her as only a father and best friend can.

I knew I would love this story the second I laid eyes on the cover. I thoroughly enjoyed this story of a hard working girl just trying to live her dream while also trying to find her soul mate. I especially loved the fact that even though her life went through so many changes, one thing always stayed the same: her closeness with her best friend Tana and her relationship with her father.  I truly believe, with all my heart, that a good relationship with your father is one of the most beneficial things a girl can have in her life. For some girls, without that, there is a void that nothing else can fill. I was also able to really identify with Sophi’s love of shoes…
